Response to Obama's State of the Union... Kinda

Since I had a hard time understanding what Mr. president had to state during his speech, I decided to choose the second choice and write a paragraph based off my notes and what I have somewhat learned so far. To start things off right, I noticed how Mr. DeWit would put vocab words on the board. I found this extremely helpful because in high school I found it mighty hard to keep up with cramming the day before the vocab test. With the words being put on the board and for us to slightly go over them helps me identify the word more quickly without having to cram a bunch of other words before the day of our test. Following what we’ve been learning in class, I also got to meet a couple great people that I feel would help me in any situation in class if I ask them. This is another valid source that I will be using this semester in order to be successful. A huge part of me is scared this semester. I won’t lie. English has never been a “fun” topic for me and I have always struggled with it. I’m hoping this semester Mr. DeWit can guide me in the direction in order to be successful in this class and possibly even for the rest of my classes. Something that has lingered in my head ever since the first class was how we talked about “either or thinking”, how it’s basically choosing heaven or hell. The example that Mr. DeWit gave us was that America was ruled by an either or system, and in turn has made our government stupid. If I can pick up small details like this in class that’ll help me learn the entire curriculum, then there’s nothing I can’t learn this year.
